“Since the beginning of my artistic project, my vision has focused on the concepts of popular beliefs, myths, transmitted spoken narratives, and Sufi poetry.
In this exhibition, I present a group of paintings in which the content is for readings in Sufi poetry and folklore – MAWAL is also the visual inspiration of folk rituals and transmitted spoken narratives, especially in marital relations and its folk totem rituals. All of them were my sources of inspiration to create, not in a simulation or visual translation form, but as a conceptual basis for the expressive content of my paintings. That Sufi poetry and songs are related to the life cycle and the rituals of marriage Starting with the sprinkled salt – ululating, drums, and tambourines, until the night of henna and its inherited rituals and myths. All of these rituals include coded taboos and signs in which case their visual content was either direct or hidden. These sources sparked my visual revelations for my paintings.”
