Born in 1912 and passing away in 1988, the Egyptian artist graduated from the Higher School of Fine Arts, where he was a student of Youssef Kamel. He obtained the National Certificate of Art Teaching in 1937 and the Diploma of the Academy in Rome in 1940. His artistic style can be seen as carrying on the legacy of his mentor, Youssef Kamel, by embracing the Impressionist style with its dynamic brushwork, affinity for vivid light, and vibrant use of colors. He focused on depicting similar subjects to his teacher, such as Egyptian alleyways, rural villages, human interaction with nature and rural architecture, as well as scenes of cattle congregating at village markets and boats with boatmen. However, his work distinguishes itself through the meticulous attention to detail and the bold contrast between colors, as well as the thickness of his paint application using a palette knife
El-Bannany exhibited his works both locally and internationally, including at the Spring Exhibition of Alumni of Faculties of Fine Art, the Association of Fine Arts Lovers Exhibitions, the Exhibition of the Contemporary Fine Art in 1985, the Art in Arab World Exhibition in 1985, the Venice Biennale, the Unesco Exhibition in Beirut, and the Acquisition Exhibition in 2000. Throughout his career, he received medals of honors and certificates of merit for his murals, and in 1938, he was honored with The International Award and the honorary prize at the Landscape Exhibition in Washington.
