Kamal Yaknour is famous for his pleasing combinations of folklore.
He graduated from the American University in Cairo. He got a Diploma in painting from the Leonardo da Vinci Institute in 1952. He was a member of the Association of Egyptian Artists Occupation.
He drew much of his inspiration from the common folk in the traditional area where his studio was located; the ancient house of El-Ghouri in the Hussein district of Cairo. He did not attempt to create the illusion of depth, delineating his elements with clear lines. Dolls, horses, and folk designs on clothes and buildings captivated him and became an integral part of his work.
He staged up to 18 solo exhibitions as well as many groups and international exhibitions such as The Exhibition of Arab Friendship in Cyprus, The Egyptian Art Exhibition, Bucharest, Romania, and The Egyptian Contemporary Art Exhibition, US.
He received many prizes from the Railway Authority, the Head Office of the Railway Authority. Art lovers and institutions in Egypt, the US, France, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Japan, Finland, Kuwait, Libya, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Syria.
