Marwa Magdy

Sculptor

A graduate of the Faculty of Art Education in Cairo 2016 and a teaching assistant in the Sculpture Department, Marwa Magdy earned her master’s degree in 2022. Her artistic practice is deeply influenced by the form and symbolism of animals, which she perceives as a vital link between humanity and the natural world.

In her work, animals serve as metaphors for human existential complexity, reflecting the deep connection between people and their environment. She believes that while humans may struggle to relate directly to nature, animals act as intermediaries, helping us understand our place within the ecosystem. Their gestures and behaviors mirror aspects of human existence, allowing us to reflect on who we are and the challenges facing the planet.

Active in Egypt’s contemporary art scene since the 1990s, she has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposia, continuously contributing to the dialogue between art, nature, and human identity
