La Vie En Rose means “Life In Happy Hues”, a message of finding and holding on to the warmth and good things in life. Often we can take matters for granted and begin to lose appreciation for those good things we have in our lives, something I experienced recently in my own life. That experience was reflected in my exhibition last year, ‘a mother is’, where I portrayed the difficulties of motherhood and the guilt of feeling tired and exhausted the whole time. I found myself trapped in a cycle of complaints and distress, and I found myself missing out on so much love and affection around me. I realised that the only way to break free was to express myself, through my subconscious and on to the canvas.
I found myself finally appreciating the joys of motherhood; that feeling of love and affection started spreading, and the more I let myself feel that love, the more I overcame feelings of exhaustion and anger.
This year is a happy year, and I am living my life in happy hues.
