Afifi’s paintings are characterized by their rough touches and heterogeneous colors. He often prefers to work in black and white with scratching on a black surface. Afifi is used to paint people, factories, the working class, Egyptian alleys, and popular neighborhoods specially El-Sayeda Zeinab. He also has another collection where he painted kids’ toys, memories of the old, circus, and musicians.
About the Artist
Fathi Afifi was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1950. He achieved an industrial school diploma then he worked for a while at the military factories. In 1974 he joined the free section at the Faculty Of Fine Arts.He is a member of the union of artists and writers Cairo atelier, the plastic art association, and the Ahlia art society. Furthermore, he participated in National and international exhibitions in Cairo, Berlin, and Vienna. He also won the seventh International Cairo Biennale.
The artist now is working in Cairo.
