When an artist paints the face of a particular woman, usually upon her request, it is called a “portrait.” But when he paints a woman’s face from his imagination, it is then, and only then, a sheer artistic piece of work! In that case, the art is a representation of his memories and personal experiences and no longer the face of a particular woman, but rather of all women.
In this exhibition, I have attempted to recollect all the faces of women I have painted over the years…and in repainting them, I have discovered that, despite the diversity of features and painting techniques along the years, all women’s faces are beautiful and enchanting.
