Adel Tharwat was born in Cairo in 1966 and is currently a Professor of Painting and Photography at Helwan University’s Faculty of Art.
He has been a prominent part of the Egyptian plastic movement since his graduation and continues to do so now.He took part in several local and international creative activities, including the Youth Salon for Egyptian Plastic Artists, the General National Exhibition, the sixth session of the Cairo Varicose Biennale, and the Alexandria International Biennale.
Tharwat earned several awards, the most significant of which was the first place in the Seventh Youth Salon, the AICA Prize 1997 AD. Furthermore, he has conducted over fifteen personal exhibitions.His works are focused on Egyptian heritage, particularly popular cultural beliefs and traditions.
