Halla Shafey is an Egyptian artist transforming soft pastels into dynamic, abstract expressionism. With a background in economics from the American University in Cairo, she transitioned to art after a 25-year consulting career, studying under Magd Sagini.
Her debut solo exhibition Passion for Pastels (2012) marked the start of an award-winning career. She won First Prize at the 114th Annual Pastel Society of England Exhibition (2013) and earned PSA Signature Member status after exhibiting at the National Arts Club, New York. Her work has been showcased internationally, including the International Pastel Biennial of Spain and the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome.
Shafey’s vibrant, textured compositions, inspired by nature, dreams, and social issues, push pastel artistry beyond tradition, cementing her as a leading contemporary pastel artist.
