Islam El Nagdi was born in Cairo in 1969, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts-Department of Theatrical Decoration (Academy of Arts) in 1993, and a Master’s in Dramatic Arts (Academy of Arts) in 2000. In 2005, he earned his Ph.D. in Theatrical Scenography from the Sapienza University of Rome. He became a teaching assistant at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in the Academy of Arts in 1994 until he became the Vice President of the institution in 2020, alongside being a delegated professor at The October 6 University, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Applied Arts, Fifth Settlement.El-Nagdi designed and performed several plays at the Rihani Culture Palace Theater, including “The Pharaohs Have Arrived,” “Estreptiz,” “Born to Die,” and “Alih El-Awad,” as well as worldwide theatrical performances in Trapani and Campo Bello di Manzara in Sicily, Italy.

Since 1993, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in different governmental and private spaces, including; the exhibition by Al-Ahram newspaper featuring artists of the Faculty of Applied Arts; “First Generations”, “I am the Egyptian”, the annual Exhibition “Art for All”, the festival of “A Painting For Every Egyptian House” in Cairo, and the exhibition of Omar El-Nagdi and the Family that took place in Alexandria. Additionally, he took part in many international group exhibitions, such as those in Udine, Padua, the Sapienza University of Rome in Italy, the Theatrical Works of Art in Prague, and “On Flair” in France. Some of his artworks were acquired by Al-Ahram newspaper and other personal collectibles.
