Sixty years separate the first and last paintings in this collection.
We are not here to make comparisons or examine history, but rather to reinforce the notion that the journey of art is a talent in addition to the combined layers of hard work and various experiences, as well as the insistence on overcoming the many stations of failure.
Back in 1950, when I was only 6 years old, Ms. Soraya, my instructor, wrote in January’s monthly workbook “A Child who tends to work constantly and Excellent in the drawing.” This simple phrase described my whole artistic career as though I were looking forward to the future.
Now, at the age of 78, the act of art is still capable of sparking the spirit of resistance in a tired body and forcing it to continue inhaling the aroma of a vivid fragrance day after day.
