For more than a year, we have been trying to adapt to a new normal life, and it’s unclear if we are saying farewell to an era that we thought was going to last forever. For we have faced – and still facing – a strange complex situation that is pushing us to a search for a safe place to lean on, inside of our beliefs and our imagination, where past, present and future collides in a hazy mysterious space.
And I tended in my current exhibition’s artworks to search for a meaning through meditation and reflecting to reevaluate and reimagine my inside world. So my paintings started to listen to the whispers of the past and receive the spark of an unknown future.

About the Artist

Nazli Madkour was born in Cairo where she lives and works. She received her master’s Degree in Political Economy from the American University in Cairo. In 1981 she resigned from her post of Economic Expert at the Industrial Development Centre for Arab States (Arab League, Cairo) to concentrate on art. She held over 40 solo exhibitions. she also took part in several group exhibitions in Egypt, Portugal, Germany, Italy, France, Lebanon, Sharjah, Kuwait, Greece, Japan, the UK, and the USA. Madkour participated in the Sharjah International Biennales and the Cairo International Biennale of 1998. She took part in the second international Symposium of Sanart, Ankara, Turkey, in May 1995.
