Born in 1965 in Iraq, Ahmed Albahrani is a celebrated sculptor and painter known for his bold artistic vision. He obtained his diploma from the Fine Arts Institute in Baghdad in 1988, later teaching there from 1992 to 1994. In addition to his artistic career, he co-founded Mimar Interiors, a Doha-based design firm, alongside architect Hazem Abu Naba’a.
Albahrani’s work is distinguished by its sharp-edged forms and solid structures, showcasing a fearless artistic approach. His style is ever-evolving, ranging from conceptual and contemporary pieces to abstract figurative sculptures. Over the years, his work has been featured in more than 50 international solo and group exhibitions, including the Beirut Art Fair (2015), Art Basel Miami Beach – Solo (2013), and Katara in Doha, Qatar (2011).
His notable projects include the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani Anti-Corruption Hand Sculpture (2017, Geneva, Switzerland), the Handball Gold World Cup (2015), and “The Challenge” hand installation (2015, Lusail Hall, Doha, Qatar).
