Ahmed Albahrani

Painter | Sculptor

Ahmed Albahrani was born in 1965 in Iraq, he is an Iraqi sculptor & painter. In 1988, he obtained his diploma from Fine Arts Institute in Baghdad where he also taught from 1992 – 1994. Moreover, Albahrani co-founded Doha-based Mimar Interiors with architect Hazem Abu Naba’a. 

Albahrani’s work exhibits unsolicited boldness visible through sharp edges and solid forms. He isn’t confined by a singular path as his approach shifts from conceptual, to contemporary & abstract figurative models. His work has been exhibited across 50+ international solo & collective exhibitions including Beirut Art Fair (2015), Art Basel Miami Beach – Solo (2013), & Katara in Doha, Qatar (2011).

Some of the artist’s projects include Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani Anti-Corruption Hand Sculpture (2017 – Geneva, Switzerland), Handball Gold World Cup (2015), and the hand installation “The Challenge” (2015 – Lusail Hall, Doha, Qatar).
