In this exhibition, artist Osama Farid continues to discover his magical world of color, as color is the core of the painting, whatever elements take shape before us on the drawing space. He is an artist who is passionate about color and experimentation.
His works and experiments are characterized by diversity, from the natural landscape and architectural formations, to his shorthand treatments of elements and shapes, or from direct drawing of houses to his other drawings for natural scenes that touch the limits of color abstraction.
Artist Osama Farid here continues to use the golden color in his paintings, but the golden sheets is present this time has an unusual density, as we see it occupying a significant part of the painting. The golden shades symbolize the sun light, as the artist says, that shines on everyone, making no distinction between a city and a village, or between the homes of the poor and skyscrapers. There is no doubt that dealing with such strong color tones require a lot of care, and require an experienced expert. Contrasting color combination is an adventure, of course, but in any case, it seems a calculated adventure. It reflects the artist’s keenness, as we said, on experimentation and discovery.
Osama Farid has benefited from his previous experiences, and he also benefited more from his experience in dealing with chemicals through his work. In many of his works, the artist may surprise us by combining discordant materials without the recipient realizing it. Under the weight of this dissonance, he often employs the contrast between materials to the benefit of the work
About the Artist
Osama Farid was born in Giza in 1955 and worked as an agricultural engineer. He was fortunate to grow up in an artistic family and started to paint when he was 10 years old, developing into a professional at the age of twenty-four. Then he shifted his artistic path and spent many years pursuing photography.
In 2007, the artist went back to painting. Farid worked for a multinational company that allowed him to travel the world, so he brought his camera and put several photos on canvas, which he painted using a variety of art materials, including classic oil, golden sheets, and flowing acrylics. Farid is fascinated by architectural artwork, especially watercolors.
His paintings are now more abstract, realistic, urban, or flowery in style. Experimental painting is an important success factor. To improve his artistic abilities, Farid attends watercolor workshops in old cities across the Middle East and Europe. Throughout various exhibitions, Farid collected numerous honors, including the Egyptian Ministry of Arts’ first prize for photography. Second place in a watercolor competition within an international art exhibition in France.
