About the Artist
El Dessouki Fahmi is a painter, writer, and translator who was born in 1938.
El Desouki graduated from the department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1963, and acquired a Post-graduate Diploma (Egyptology) from Cairo University in 1973. He worked as an archaeological painter at the Egyptian Antiquities organization until he devoted himself to writing and painting in 1993.
His authored and translated works have been published in Egyptian newspapers and magazines since the late fifties, accompanied by his drawings.
His translations varied between novels, short stories, poetry, and critical and philosophical articles, including many books by Franz Kafka (Amerika – Letters to Milena – The Metamorphosis – The Giant Mole).
