Some of the works in this 2022 exhibition are paintings and sculptures that were inspired by drawings I have completed in phases and over different periods of time in the span of over half a century, since 1962, in Nubia and Upper Egypt.
The memories, the scents, and the locations associated with these drawings are reminiscent of worlds that I hadn’t paid much attention to until recently but that have today become visual emotional assets to my modern works. Their resurrection has in turn provided a new challenging experience, instigating passion, energy, and emotion.
About the Artist
Mostafa El-Razzaz was born in 1942 in Cairo. He attended the Higher Institute of Art Education, graduated in 1965 where he learned a lot of works of art including painting, Sculpting, Pottery, and printmaking.
Later he earned a master’s degree in art education in 1972. In 1974, he continued his studies in arts and crafts at the University of Oslo.
