Born in Cairo in 1935, Attyat Sayed graduated from the High Institute of Art Education in 1958. She worked as a press illustrator for Al Gomhoria and Al Masaa newspapers until 1995, before transitioning to a full-time painter.
Attyat’s artistic talents spanned far beyond oil and gouache paintings. With over 40 years of experience as a press illustrator, she excelled in line drawings, etching, and experimenting with black-and-white techniques. Her work, including depictions of short stories, poems, and portraits, often used charcoal and black oil pastels, showcasing her mastery in these mediums.
Her daily creative process, marked by intense emotional and psychological exploration, reflected a deep-rooted commitment to her art. Attyat’s art was not just a reflection of her experiences but a continuous quest to transform stress and emotion into meaningful visual scenes—making her work both a personal journey and a professional practice.
