Attyat Sayed was born in Cairo in 1935. Graduated with a diploma from the high institute of Art Education in 1958. A daily press-illustrator at Al Gomhoria and Al Masaa newspapers till 1995 to become a full time painter.
Attyat’s talents were not limited to oil and gouache paintings as she excelled in line-drawings, etching and experimentation with black and white techniques, owing to her long experience as a press-illustrator, in Al-Masaa daily newspaper for more than 40 years, along which she artistically depicted and interpreted short stories, poems, novels, portraits; using black and white mediums such as charcoals, black oil pastel, with special mastership.
Painting at a non-stop daily pace, a continuity that needs a psychic and physique stress, shows an extraordinary will to giving and sacrifice. As Attyat’s creative process launches a new adventure with every painting, exploiting her inner stress as a base for painting a visual and tangible scene, altering a stressful, emotional and psychological experience that must go on to become a deep-rooted habit that completely contradicts temporary or accidental creative performances. Attyat’s creative process and practice was a daily quest fueled by prolonged stress and intense emotions, that it eventually became second nature.
