Born in 1944 in Heliopolis, Cairo, Samir Fouad began his artistic journey at an early age, simultaneously cultivating a passion for playing the violin during his teenage years. A graduate of Cairo University with a B.Sc. in Communications Engineering in 1966, Fouad embarked on a successful 34-year career in information technology, which also allowed him to travel extensively and stay abreast of global artistic trends.
Fouad has been a prominent figure in the Egyptian art movement since the early 1980s, earning recognition as one of Egypt’s leading watercolor artists. While balancing his professional life, he participated in national and collective exhibitions, gaining acclaim for his mastery of the medium. After retiring in 2001, Fouad dedicated himself entirely to his art, marking the transition with the publication of his book, “Water-Colors.”
His artistic achievements include representing Egypt at the International Water-Color Biennale in 2001 and participating in the Luxor International Symposium in 2011. He has served on various selection committees for national exhibitions, contributing to the advancement of the local art scene.
Fouad’s works have been exhibited internationally, in locations such as the USA, UK, Russia, Italy, Dubai, Kenya, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, and he has held over fifteen solo exhibitions in Egypt since 1997. Notably, in 2016, he co-exhibited with renowned Italian artist Franco Rizolli in Venice. In 2018, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture honored him with a large retrospective at the Ofok Gallery and the Mahmoud Khalil Museum in Cairo.
Today, Samir Fouad stands as a celebrated artist whose work reflects a unique blend of tradition and modernity, continuing to inspire art enthusiasts worldwide.
